Keeping football safe and enjoyable

15 November 2017

Over the past year, safeguarding in football has received renewed focus from inside and outside of the game.

The FA has worked with partners to ensure the safeguarding framework is as simple as possible to understand and access. To that end we have worked with those partners to produce this document, Keeping Football Safe and Enjoyable, which we hope will help in this regard.

It is designed to demonstrate the work done in this field by different organisations in the game to keep children and young people safe, highlight ways to report concerns, and details further work that has been undertaken over the past 12 months. It also gives insight into supporting the work of the police and collaborations with victim and survivor groups as well as work done in the regions to check that the safeguards required for all clubs and leagues with youth teams at the point of affiliation, continued to be in place across the 62,900 youth teams during last season. This was a significant undertaking led by The FA, with all County FAs, leagues and grassroots club. This activity  was also undertaken at professional game level by both the Premier League and the EFL respectively.

We hope you find it a useful and informative resource and thank you for your collaboration in this field.

Yours sincerely

Sue Ravenlaw
